Safiri means 'journey' in Swahili. We equip vulnerable children and youth with the trauma support, digital skills, and resources to build sustainable livelihoods before poverty dictates their future—starting in Migori County, Kenya.
Why we exist
In Uriri and across rural Kenya, violence, economic exclusion and climate vulnerability do not arrive one at a time. They reinforce each other. A girl who experiences violence carries it into the classroom. A young person without marketable skills faces a narrowing world. What is missing is an integrated, youth-centered response that treats these realities as connected. That is the gap SYI is built to fill.
